The human(s) behind Spoonful
Hi, I’m Mirna - a Balkan girl who considers Bosnia, Croatia and The Netherlands all a home. I love desserts - always have and always will. Growing up with a pretty unhealthy relationship with food, in my early 20’s I changed my diet to include more wholesome and conscious food choices. Making a more nutritious version of any existing dish became my hobby and also a way of eating.
Since becoming a vegan, my passion for food and sweets remained, but available choices decreased. Therefore, I decided to make myself many delicious, plant-based and nutritious sweets. Spoonful is my way of sharing this love and passion beyond the circle of family, friends and colleagues.
Spoonful started as an idea between two friends & ex-colleagues (Amin & Mirna). Together we did a lot of initial experimenting and created our 1st product: the chocolate-hazelnut spread. Then life happened, Amin left Amsterdam, I continued Spoonful on my own and we continued sharing our love & passion for food over long chats and visits.
I’ve spent months experimenting and tweaking each product to the smallest details, carrying sample jars and asking for feedback everywhere I go - from work to meetings with friends.
The trick was to balance flavour, texture and nutrition. Months of experiments later, I think we finally got there; we created spreads that check all the boxes: delicious, plant-based, freshly made with no added sugar!
